Can I browse the Mobile Web on my mobile?

Most phones let you browse specially written internet pages on your mobile. Just press the internet option on your mobile phone, then type in the web address and away you go!

How do I visit the Virgin Media site on my mobile?

It's simple. Just select the internet option on your phone's menu and we'll take you straight there. The Virgin Media site opens as your home page.

There, you can do loads:


  • Keep tabs on Facebook, Bebo and Myspace on your mobile!
  • Do a Yahoo Search: find info fast!
  • Get the latest footy scores, news and downloads!

    Can anyone visit the Virgin Media site on their mobile?

    Yes! It doesn't matter which network you're with or how you pay. Anyone can visit the site and get up to speed on all the news, results, gossip and more!

    Got a 3G phone? Then you can get everything that's available, including our music tracks and videos.

    Got a GPRS phone? Then you can get everything that's available, except the music tracks and videos. If you'd like to check out our videos or download music, then grab yourself a 3G phone and see the lot!

    How much does it cost?

    With Virgin Mobile, you get unlimited web access for just 30p a day in the UK!

    There are no subscriptions, and no hidden charges. Plus, it costs the same great rate whether you're checking out the Virgin Media site on your mobile, or any other site on the Mobile Web.

    There are heaps of videos, music tracks, tones, pics and games to download too - these cost extra. You'll always be able to see how much they cost before you download them. Check the prices out here


    Can I use Mobile Web abroad?

    You can - though it depends on which phone you have and which country you visit. Read on to find out more.

    Got a WAP phone? If you Pay As You Go, Mobile Web is always available abroad. If you pay by Direct Debit, then it all depends on the network in the country you're visiting - in many cases, you will be able to. Don't forget, if you pay by Direct Debit, you'll need to pay 3 monthly bills before you can use your phone abroad.

    Got a 3G or GPRS phone? You can check whether there's coverage where you're going by taking a look at our country guide before you travel. If the network in the country you're going to supports 3G or GPRS, then you'll be able to use it. If there is more than one network, then you may need to manually change networks to one with GPRS or 3G.

    Mobile Web costs 0.5p per Kb while you're abroad.


    What is GPRS?

    GPRS is a richer version of WAP. It allows you to browse specially written internet pages on your phone. You can see text, images in colour. Plus, the service is a little speedier too.


    What is 3G?

    3G lets you browse specially written internet pages on your phone faster than WAP or GPRS.

    It also lets you download music tracks and videos to your phone. Plus, if you've got a mate who owns a 3G phone, you can make and take video calls too. To do things like make a video call, download stuff and browse the Mobile Web, you'll need to be in an area where there's 3G coverage. You can check 3G coverage here.


    What are tones?

    They're ringtones for your phone! Tones come in 2 different types. There are polyphonic tones and Trutones. A polyphonic ringtone is a standard ringtone. A Trutone is often a 30 second excerpt from an actual song.

    Which tone you can download depends on your phone. Just let us know which mobile you have and we'll show you what's available. You can download tones online from our website or by visiting the Virgin Media site on your mobile.


    What are music tracks?

    Music tracks are full length songs that you can download to your phone. There are heaps to choose from, whether you're into pop or dance, urban or indie. To download our music tracks, you'll need to have a 3G phone. You'll need to be in an area where there's 3G coverage too. Check your 3G coverage here.


    What are video downloads?

    Video downloads are cool clips that you can download to your phone. There are heaps to choose from, whether you're into music or comedy, films or sport. Download them to your phone and you can watch them whenever you like!

    To download our video clips, you'll need to have either a 2.5G a 3G phone. You'll need to be in an area where there's 2.5 G or 3G coverage too. Check your 3G coverage here.


    What are pics?

    What are games?

    These are great games that can be downloaded to your phone from either our website or by visiting the Virgin Media site on your mobile.     How do I turn off your text services?

    You can set up and stop services online. It is really simple: Text STOP followed by the sport you have signed up for (e.g. STOP FOOTBALL) to 22522.


    What's your fair usage policy?

    With Virgin Mobile, you can download up to 25Mb a day in the UK (that's around 250 web pages a day). It doesn't include making internet phone or video calls, peer to peer file sharing, using your phone as a modem, or using the Mobile Web or the Virgin Media site on your mobile while you're abroad.
